George and Hugo founded Bluntrock in 2021 to bring their shared passion of small-batch, quality-focused beers to their local community. They had discovered a new obsession with US-style pale ales and IPAs that were on the rise in the UK beer scene, but they couldn't find access to them locally. So, they sought to solve this issue they faced: they wanted to create accessibility for these delicious, modern styles of beer for people in their little pocket of North Cornwall.

The pair sparked their idea and joined forces in late 2020, and before they knew it, they had built themselves a tiny brewery, taproom and beer garden out of yellow recycled shipping containers! A beautiful, vibrant place to share their passion for fresh, diverse styles of beer. Support from like-minded drinkers quickly grew the demand for Bluntrock beers, and soon the brewery's capacity reached its limit. Our team did their best to keep up with the demand from the beloved Bluntrock community.

Between March 2023 and May 2024, the team were busy building a new, state-of-the-art brewery, just 600 metres from the original Bluntrock container brewery in Rock, Cornwall. Here, not only will they aim be to produce much more beer, but also to achieve new heights of innovation, quality and sustainability in their brewing techniques o produce better beers than ever before, along with doing their best to operate in the most inclusive and honest way possible.

The new brewery takes advantage of progressive systems such as CO2 recovery, solar power and an onsite bore hole, all of which pull us closer to achieving our goal of becoming a net zero business at some point in the future. We are aiming to achieve B-Corp certification status by 2026, as well as closely monitoring the carbon emissions of our supply chains, processes and finished beers.

Since commissioning the new brewery in May 2024 the team have been creating a diverse range of pale ales, lagers, cask beers and monthly specials. You can now find the freshest Bluntrock beers at the container Taproom in Rock, The Pagan Arms in Newquay, at select venues in Cornwall and around the UK, and also on our online store!
